The Business of Fashion

Why learning What its all about is so Interesting

The Devil Wears Prada happens to be one of my favorite movies, thanks to Miranda Priestly and Nigel. One of the best lines in the movie is what Nigel says to Andy Sachs while in line at the Elias Clark cafeteria: “That’s what this multi-billion dollar industry is about anyway…inner beauty.” Well, if you really want to know what Nigel was talking about visit The Business of Fashion. Editor Imran Amed has created a conglomerate of articles from various sources in his blog to tell you what is going on in the world’s leading industry. The information ranges from the share price of a given company to the launch of new brands, to the take overs of old. It was not until I found Mr. Amed’s site did I know that the business of fashion is written about almost on a daily basis (which now it seems so obvious). While for some the thought of business can be boring, like an good fashion site, the blog’s posted images will still draw you into clicking on one of Mr. Amed’s found articles. While the blog is streamlined and has the visual appeal of a website, it remains traditional in the fact that it has a searchable monthly archive  and search function for your favorite designer, brand or company to get all related article posts. Therefore, if you have more than just a passing interest in fashion, and want to get down to the nuts and bolts, or dare I say needles and thread, then visit The Business of Fashion regularly…as Miranda said to Andy (when Andy laughed and stated that she was “still learning about this stuff,” during the run through) “However that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and so its sort of comical how you think that you’ve made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you’re wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room. From a pile of stuff.”
